And I'm not a type designer. At least I wasn't up until now.

But recently, I ended up designing a typeface.

I was sketching logo concepts as I normally do for a project.

I sketched the letter G & thought it'll be cool to try the rest too.

Then I thought, let's digitize them & shared it on X.

People loved the idea, started giving feedback.

Which I received wholeheartedly & made some changes.

Then I made the following design quickly to visualize the idea of this typeface.

And it got crazy amount of unexpected appreciation.

Then I kept asking for feedback & kept iterating on it.

So I did a bit of research and figured out how to do it.

I found a free and open source software called Fontforge.

It's basically a software for creating font files.

I ended up choosing a set of glyphs.

Which I thought were enough for the first version of this display typeface.

And I'm happy to announce that...

I'm planning to turn it into a functional typeface by the end of this week.

And to soft launch it next week. God willing.

It has been a great experience for me personally, got to learn a lot of intricacies of type design.

This was my very first newsletter.

I am planning to share whatever I learnt in upcoming ones. God willing.
